Trip to Gotland summer 2010

Ok, it acutally was a while since I got back from Gotland I haven't been able to write or do anything with the pictures I took for a couple of reasons (one is I have been working, the other is that my computer can't handle the pressure from Photoshop.)

But for those who wonder what I did here's the story: on Saturday morning my family and I went ut really early to take everything we packed to the car. My dad drove southward for like two hours to Nynäshamn. It is one of the places where you can take the ferry to this magical place called Gotland.

When we got there the weather was really nice and warm in Visby but as we drove to the place were we would live to the next week the sky first got cloudy and then the it started to rain, a lot. So we got to the cabin and everything looked normal, exept for the one lamp the was lit flickered, as they can do when it's raining. On the way back to Visbyit was rainingall the way back and everything was unusually dark. We turned on the radio and they said that because of the power cord to the mainland was damaged the whole island had a blackout.

And hour later the power was back on and we could finally have some real food. So at 20:10 we walked in to McD and the plan was to eat since no one of us was in the mood to cook anything and we couldn't because every one of the supermarkets had to close.

The next day there was no signs of the clouds left in the sky and the plan for today was to walk around in Visby. On the way we stopped at this farm stand and while I walked around outside taking photos one of the guys working there walked up to and asked.

"What are you taking photos of?"
"Oh, the shed over there."
"Do you wanna see some garlic? It up on the attic over there."

So he opened the door and went to do something else. I, on the other hand looked for a light switch and found one after a while. I walked out the stairs and found the whole floor up there covered with garlic. I snapped a couple of photos and then went down, trying not to break something.

Back down and outside I took some more photos of the tomato plants before going inside the shop and adding my suggestions to what we should eat this week and takeing some photos of the things inside.

After this stop we went into VIsby and att 14:30 we were at the place kalled Kapitelhusgårdenandwatched my little sister and a couple of other kids getting knighted.

The next day we went to the place called Furillen. Large parts of it was a limestone quarry but not anymore. Now parts of it is flooded and there's this (really) expensive hotel.

There's still alot of old buildings left so when the rest of the family went swimming I took the camera and walked around.

After a while walking around I found this house trailer. It was just standing there... It was really weird.

After some coffee we went back to the car and drove to a place for my sister to ride a horse. She was really excited to do it since she never done it before.

On the way home we bought some meat from a place called Ejmundsgård. We didn't eat it the same day but I can tell you it was one of the best thing I've eaten in a long time.

The following day we went to the beach and quoting my sister.

"It was the world's largest sandbox!"

But on the other hand, she said the same thing for all of the beaches we went to. After lunch we went to a pottery that my step mom wanted to see. They that this little house where you could make your own jars, but the line to do it was really long and it wasn't really worth spending a lot of money to stand in a line forever and then make the jar in like no time.

Fot dinner we went to this place where they made creppe and now I know: galette is what you have for main course and crêpe is the desert, most of the time!

On Wednesday it was my and my dads' turn to play cowboys! It went above expectations and and we went back to Visby for lunch. After the lunch we met my stepmom and my sister. My sister got some bread from some boy feeding the ducks.

The next day it was my step mom's turn to ride and I, my dad, and my sister wen to Gutevingård and ate lunch. When my step mom were done we went to a place called Holmshellar, first for swimming, then to the national park that's really close.

We walked around in the park for a while and my sister wanted to climb all the large rocks she could.

And On our way back to the car I found this sad guy...

The next to last day on this big island it started to rain, and like the person I am I forgot to bring any kind of rain wear. So I had to buy some.

On the last day it was also raining so we went to a museum called Fornsalen and in the highest room in the tallest tower there was a playhouse so that was where we went to make a necklace for my sister.

But on the way I took the opportunity and snapped some photos, with out the flash of course.

After a while we were done and went back outside. My step mom who had left earlier had founds a rack that she thought would fit in her parents house, so she came back and told us that. There was no place for the rack in the house but I found these Japanese dolls.

And that was the end of the trip to Gotland, the next day it I had to go up early to put everything in the car, and then it was of to the ferry and to the mainland.
